About The Botanist

Alternative Health Care Tailored To Your Lifestyle.

Phone calls. Waiting rooms. Forms you’ve already filled out three times. And an appointment at 11:20 that somehow still starts at 12:05.

We thought we could do better. So we built The Botanist — a modern Australian telehealth service designed around a fairly radical idea: healthcare should work around people. Not the other way around.

So, Why The Botanist?

Observation before assumption. It’s how a botanist works — and how we think healthcare should work too.

A botanist studies living things. They observe. They ask questions. They understand that what works in one environment might not work in another.

We think healthcare could use a little more of that thinking. Because people aren’t templates. Your health, history, circumstances and goals are uniquely yours.

So rather than beginning with an assumption about what you need, we believe good healthcare should begin with a conversation. Listen first. Understand the person. Then work out what comes next. Simple, really.

Curious how it works in practice? Our frequently asked questions cover consultations, treatment suitability and what happens afterwards.

fig.02 — How we think

Alternative By Nature. Serious About Care.

The phone calls. The waiting. The travelling. The paperwork. The bouncing between systems that don’t seem to know the other ones exist. The Botanist uses technology to make accessing healthcare simpler, while keeping qualified practitioners firmly where they belong: at the centre of your care.

Listen First

Good healthcare should begin with a conversation, not an assumption about what you need.

Understand The Person

People aren't templates. Your health, history, circumstances and goals are uniquely yours.

Then Work Out What Comes Next

Only once we understand the person does the conversation turn to what may be appropriate. Simple, really.

We’re Interested In What Works For You

Sometimes that’s conventional medicine. Sometimes there may be other clinically appropriate options worth discussing. Sometimes you just need to talk to a doctor without reorganising your entire Tuesday. The Botanist provides access to a growing range of healthcare services — general telehealth, sexual health, medical certificates and consultations for patients interested in exploring alternative treatment pathways.

Full consultation fees are listed on our pricing page.

The Botanist Way

01

We're Not Reinventing Doctors

Doctors are pretty important. We're reinventing some of the stuff around them — the phone calls, the waiting, the travelling, the paperwork.

02

No Predetermined Answer

No guaranteed prescription. No one-size-fits-all medicine. Just a conversation with a practitioner about what may be appropriate for you.

03

Technology You Shouldn't Notice

Good technology disappears into the background. It should make booking easier and give practitioners more time to listen to another human being.

04

Convenient Doesn't Mean Careless

Making healthcare easier to access should never mean lowering the standard of care.

fig.05 — Technology

Yes, We’re A Technology Company. But We’d Rather You Didn’t Notice.

We love technology. We just don’t think you should have to think about it while you’re trying to see a doctor. It should make booking easier, information easier to find and managing your care simpler — all inside one patient portal — and give practitioners more time to do the distinctly non-technological part: listen to another human being.

Healthcare Without The Waiting Room.

Australia is a very big place. Healthcare isn’t always conveniently located within ten minutes of it. Telehealth changes that.

The Botanist connects Australians with registered healthcare practitioners online, making care easier to access whether you’re in a capital city, a regional town or simply sitting at home wondering whether something is worth seeing a doctor about. No commute. No waiting room magazines from 2019. Just healthcare, wherever you happen to be.

fig.07 — Our commitment

Alternative Healthcare. Without Alternative Standards.

Behind the simple experience is something we don’t compromise on: responsible healthcare. Our practitioners are Australian registered healthcare professionals. Clinical decisions belong to clinicians. Prescriptions and treatments aren’t guaranteed. And if something isn’t clinically appropriate for you, that’s exactly what you should expect your practitioner to tell you.

This is only the beginning

We’re The Botanist. Healthcare, Cultivated Differently.

We started with a simple question: could accessing healthcare feel better than this? We’re still asking it — and still building a healthcare experience that’s simpler, smarter and a little more human.
